In the last few decades, intensive research is being carried out to explore the potential of polyphenols, found in plants as secondary metabolites as antioxidants agents. One of them, tannic acid, has also antibacterial properties. A release-killing nanocoating against bacteria has been developed by the PECMAT team in collaboration with INSERM UMR 1121 (Strasbourg), BIOS (Reims) and KIT (Karlsruhe, Germany). The buffer used to build tannic acid and collagen nanocoatings have a dramatic effect on their antibacterial properties. Check  out how to formulate such coatings in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces (DOI: 10.1021/acsami.0c04475).
